Joe (Joey) Daniel Phillips, 78 of Carlisle passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. He was at his happy place doing what he loved, tinkering on equipment.
Joey was born June 18, 1947, to Joe and Juanita (Donahue) Phillips. He was a lifelong resident of Carlisle, AR.
He was a 1967 graduate of Carlisle High School. After high school, Joey married his high school sweetheart, Barbara (Ricks) Phillips. They shared 57 years of marriage.
Together they raised two children. Pamela (Greg) Mosby, of Hot Springs. Scott (Lauren) Phillips of Kenosha, WI. They were blessed with five grandchildren, Payton Wicklund, Hunter Wicklund, Cooper Fullen, Savannah Phillips and Josie Phillips.
Joey is survived by a brother, Billy Ibbotson of Carlisle and a sister, Vivian Meyer of North Little Rock, and a host of cousins and close friends.
Joey was a caring person. He would go out of his way to help anyone. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He had many jobs throughout the years. He and his dad, Joe Phillips owned and operated Phillips Garage and Salvage Yard and Phillips Wrecker Service. He sold Woodmen of the World Life Insurance, currently called Woodmen Life. He was a 51 year member of Woodmen Life. Joey retired from the Carlisle Fire Department.
Joey was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle for over 40 years where he served as: Deacon, Sunday School Director, Sunday School Teacher and served on various committees within the church. He currently is a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Carlisle.
Visitation and Viewing will be Sunday, October 12th from 4 – 6 pm at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke. Joey will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, October 13th at 10am at Landmark Baptist Church, Carlisle.
