With a heart full of admiration and love, we bid farewell to our beloved, Parley Joe Livingston, who passed away on July 16, 2023. Parley Joe, named after his older brother, Joseph Jr., who preceded him in passing, will be joyfully reunited with his parents, who passed away when he was a young man. He was born on March 7, 1931, in Salt Lake City, UT, USA.
Parley Joe met the love of his life, Joanne, in a serendipitous way when a roommate invited him to a dinner at her apartment. Her cooking immediately impressed him, and their first date was a scenic drive up Little Cottonwood Canyon to admire the fall foliage. Both had served their missions by then and were studying at the University of Utah. They later got engaged at Coit Tower in San Francisco and began their married life in the city. Joe started a small retail shop selling beautiful Japanese imports, which marked the beginning of his successful career as a commercial real estate developer.
In their journey of life, they moved to Cody, WY, where their last four children were born. They eventually settled in the California Bay Area, establishing a forever home in a tree-filled neighborhood. Joe's professional life was guided by a desire to provide for his family and to be present for important family moments. He prioritized trusted relationships, both in business and family, and his dedication to these relationships contributed to the growth and success of his ventures.
Parley Joe Livingston was a man of deep faith and a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His commitment to his beliefs led him to serve as a proselyting missionary to the Tokyo, Japan mission as a young man. Later, he was called to preside over the England Manchester Mission, where he found immense joy in guiding and caring for the missionaries. He set challenging mission goals and rewarded the missionaries for their achievements with memorable experiences.
In his late 60s, Joe and Joanne embarked on a couples mission, serving as Public Affairs missionaries in the London, England mission. They brought cultural and spiritual enrichment to the country they deeply cherished. After returning to the States, Joe was called to serve as a Sealer in the Oakland Temple, where he helped countless couples and families to be sealed for all eternity.
Parley Joe Livingston leaves behind his eternal companion, Joanne, with whom he shared a deep love and dedication. He is also survived by their seven children and their families: Lance (Diane) Livingston, Leslie (Marc) Barkdull, Loralee (David) Evans, Lisa (Corey) Child, Lee (Suzanna) Livingston, Lane (Liz) Livingston, and Lynette (Jesse) Cicon. Joe's legacy continues through his 36 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, with more to come. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Kathleen (Richard - deceased) Livingston, Anna Marie (Sloan) Hales, Yvonne (Bill - deceased) Nielson, Joanne Henry, and Anne (Jim - deceased) Young.
We invite all who knew Joe to join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Canyon View Stake Center, 575 East 800 North, Orem, Utah, 84097. The viewing will begin at 11:30 am MDT, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 pm MDT. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm MDT at Eastlawn Memorial, 4800 North 650 East Street, Provo, Utah, 84604. Your memories, stories, and photos shared on Joe's memorial page will help keep his memory alive in our hearts.
Parley Joe Livingston's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and dedication. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, and his legacy of love and service will continue to inspire us all.

Dear Sister Livingston and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. President Livingston inspired me in so many ways. Serving as a missionary in the EMM was such a life changing experience. I have great memories of visiting your home in England for zone meetings and I would jump on the trampoline with the younger children. I think I may have taught a few of you how to do a back flip. I love Sister Livingston with all my heart. May our Heavenly Father bless you during this time and always. Love Elder Jon Braithwaite

My Uncle Joe was always supportive of my parents and our family. As a child he was fun and playful.
After my high school junior year he and Joanne, an ever-smiling angel, invited me into their home for the summer. I did a barely passable job of helping keep up his RE properties, but they wholeheartedly included me into their Christ-centered home.
We got along splendidly. I enjoyed teasing, babysitting, and playing with the children. My passion was science. They liked my simple science insights and after dark constellation star tour. They were all easy to love and I love them all still.
Joe prepared me for my first single date...shower, brush your teeth, look sharp, etc. I was later surprised to see them parked just behind me at the drive-in theater.
Scouting was big in Cody and I was encouraged to serve as a youth leader and canoeing merit badge counselor (in a freezing cold arm of Yellowstone lake).
Joe and Joanne tried to civilize me. They have always been generous and loving. I feel forever in their debt.
I am confident God will comfort Joanne until they are re-united.
Thank you Livingstons!
