Joe Lyons Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 19, 2026.
Joe Burrel Lyons, a cherished soul known for his loving nature, kind heart, and handy skills, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Comanche, Oklahoma, on January 31, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on May 23, 1933, in the same close-knit community, Joe's life was a testament to his unwavering spirit and dedication to his family, work, and country.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 19, 2026, at the Marlow Cemetery, with Bishop Peterson officiating. All burial arrangements have been entrusted to the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services.

After serving his nation with honor in the Air Force, Joe embarked on a diverse career path that showcased his entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic. He worked as a skilled electrician before venturing into the world of business. Throughout his life, Joe ran several successful enterprises, including owning a local bar that became a community staple, managing a trucking business, working at the mill, and engaging in real estate ventures. His industrious nature was matched only by his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Joe's love extended beyond his professional achievements to the heart of his family. He is survived by his two sons, Dennis and Danny Lyons; his daughters, Jolleen Lyons, Susanne Andrey, and Cynthia Burnside; as well as his adored grandchildren, Tanner, Tiffany, Christopher, Nicole, and Kelsey. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Brooklyn, Theodore, and Riverlee, who will carry forward the values he instilled in them. Joe's brothers, JD Lyons and AL Lyons, will remember him for the bond they shared, while he joins in eternal rest his previous wives, Thelma Kelly, Deloris Perkins, and Marge Hayes, who preceded him in death.

A devout Mormon, Joe's faith was a guiding light in his life, providing comfort and strength. His involvement with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion reflected his commitment to service and community, two cornerstones that defined his character. Joe's memory will be cherished as a portrait of a man who lived life fully, with a heart open to love and a hand extended in friendship.
