Joe Merryman Obituary

Joe Pendleton Jeffreys Merryman, Jr. Joe Jeffreys "Jeff" "Red" Merryman, Jr., 66, of Pendleton, Indiana passed away December 22, 2023.

Jeff was born May 24, 1957 in Rockwood, Tennessee the son of Joe Jeffreys and Louise (Fritts) Merryman.

He was an attorney serving as a public defender for the State of Indiana since 1991.

Jeff was a Pendleton resident since 1991 from Eastern Tennessee.

He was a 1986 graduate of the University of Tennessee where he received his Juris Doctor degree.

While at University he was a member of the Tennessee Law Review.

Jeff was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, especially skiing. A fitness enthusiast he was a very active member of Crossfit, Pendleton where he will be greatly missed by his fitness family.

Survivors include his children, Hyder (Gary) Baldwin, Joe Jeffreys Merryman III aka Trey, Christopher (Meredith Garrett) Merryman and Michelle Frankie Rose Merryman; sister, Kimberly M. (Garland) Bullington; grandson, Rylan Garrett; nephew, Trent Bullington; and companion, Rebecca Wickersham.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his faithful companion friends, Wagner, Machen, Augustus "Gus" and Genevieve "Ginny".

Visitation was held from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, December 28, 2023 with celebration of life remarks led by the family at 6 p.m. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions suggested to Friends for Paws, P.O. Box 336, Pendleton, IN 46064.
