Joe Mack Mitchell

Joe Mack Mitchell went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in Jackson, MS. He was 78 years old. The family will receive friends and extended family for visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, and again from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. The funeral service will follow Sunday’s visitation at 2:00 p.m.

Joe was born on January 11, 1947, to Carl Mitchell and Mildred Murray Mitchell in Brandon, MS. He was raised in Rankin County most of his life but has lived the past 20 plus years in New Albany. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, and spending time with family. He also loved working in his yard and loved his animals as much as life itself.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Rita Herniman. He is survived by his daughters, Teresa Galer (David) of Brandon, Deborah Spell of Gulfport, Cheryl Johnson (Jeff) of Richland, and Victoria Mitchell of Brandon; grandchildren, Ryan Langford (Hayley), Luke Langford (Brenda), Justin Langford, Joseph Green, William Sypolt (Lauren), and Jonah Copeland; 4 great grandchildren; and sister, Linda Wall of Brandon.
