Joe Nichols, 86, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Born July 16, 1939, he is the son of the late Harry Edward and Pauline Marie Cherry Nichols. Mr. Nichols proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Germany.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with interment to follow is Fairview Cemetery.
Family members will be serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 17th beginning at 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home.
He is survived by three daughters, Jane Ogg (Jerald) of Martin, Cathy Hollingsworth (Terry) of Trimble, Tammy Ward (Paul) of Dyersburg; his son, David Nichols of Holladay, Utah; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Ogg) Anderson, Jana Ogg, Matt Hollingsworth (Anna), Jeremiah Ward, Joshua Nichols, Krystina (Nichols) Forbes, and Derek Nichols (Brittany); eight great-grandchildren, Boone Anderson, Max Anderson, David Cavaness, Will Cavaness, Natalie Forbes, Izzy Nichols, Sophia Nichols and Memphis Nichols; and his daughter-in-law Jean Marie Nichols.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Mitzi Nichols; his granddaughter Tabitha (Ward) Cavaness; one sister, Doris Nichols Taylor and two brothers, Ed Nichols and Rice Nichols.
The family requests memorials be directed to Dyer County Community Cancer Fund, PO Box 1055, Dyersburg, TN 38025-1055.
