On February 2, 2026, Larry Joseph “Joe” Rife (54) passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by love, with his devoted wife and children at his side.

Joe was a dedicated husband, father, and friend, whose greatest gift was his ability to bring ideas to life—not just with his hands, but with his heart. He had a rare talent for turning dreams into reality, whether building something tangible or being fully present for the people he loved. Joe believed deeply in doing things well and, more importantly, doing them together. He lived his life through quiet strength, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to family.

Joe married his wife, Margie, less than a year after graduating from Grove City High School, laying the foundation of a life rooted in love, commitment, and shared purpose. Together, they raised four beautiful children, the pride of Joe’s life. Joe was a deeply involved father who taught his children – by example - what it means to love fiercely, work hard, and cherish every moment life has to offer. Joe and Margie were regular attenders of Grove City United Methodist Church, where their faith connected them deeply to their community and to one another.

Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Joe retired from Caterpillar, a legacy he was proud to continue—one that now lives on through his youngest son, Nate. Joe was also a member of American Legion Post 417, where he enjoyed time spent with his best friends, Mark and Ron, sharing stories, laughter, and camaraderie.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Larry N. Rife. He is survived by his wife, Margie; children Jessica (Gregory Shipley) Rife, Clayton, Allison (Jeremy) Myers, and Nathaniel; his mother, Diana Rife; his sister, Nicole Shopshire; along with many extended family members, friends, and all those whose lives were better for having known him.

A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held Saturday, February 7 at Grove City United Methodist Church (2650 Columbus Street, Grove City, Ohio 43123). Friends and family are invited to gather beginning at 1:00 p.m., with services starting at 2:00 p.m. Food and fellowship to follow.

The family kindly requests no flowers. In Joe’s honor, living trees will be planted. As an expression of sympathy, please consider a donation to Joe’s memorial tree fund. Donations may be made via Venmo to @Margie-Rife
