Vicie Ann "Annie" Rife

Vicie Ann "Annie" Payne Rife, 65 years of age, of Jolo, WV, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy, VA, with her family by her side.

Born July 30, 1960 in Welch, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Clifford Payne and Edith Pedro Payne and was the step-daughter of the late Linda Rose Payne.

Annie was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid yard seller and flea marketer who enjoyed cookouts and watching Days of Our Lives. Her most favorite activity included spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and step-mother, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Rose, Arnold Payne, Larry Payne, Jerry Payne, Clifford Lee Payne, Alfred Payne and Kenny Hamilton; and one sister, Tina Payne.

She is survived by her husband, of 49 years, Danny Rife, of Jolo, WV; one daughter, Wanda (Stephen) Robertson of Verona, VA; one son, Donnie (Angel) Rife, of Jolo, WV; three sisters, Mary Bailey of Bartley, WV, Frances (Vernon) Underwood, of Lincolnton, NC and Linda Michelle (Harry) Caskey, also of Lincolnton, NC; two brothers, Lewis (Mary) Payne, of War, WV and Ronald (Donna) Rose, of Princeton, WV; grandchildren, Dalton Rife, Hailey Rife and companion Walter Rutherford, Emily (Tommy) Camper, Wayne Meadows and Danny Lee Meadows; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Vicie Ann "Annie" Payne Rife, will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 12 noon at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel at Keen Mountain, VA with Pastor Larry Stapleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Danny Rife Cemetery at 213 Hicks Hollow Rd., Jolo, WV.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home beginning at 6 p.m. until the service time of 7 p.m.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
