John Randolph Horne, Jr., 73 years of age of Laurel Fork Road, Rocky Gap, VA, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, in Christiansburg, VA. Born on March 21, 1952, in the Clifton Fork section of Raven, VA, he was the son of the late John Randolph Horn and Goldie Marie Blankenship Horn.

John was a retired coal miner. He enjoyed spending time outdoors digging ginseng, hunting dry land fish (mushrooms), and flea marketing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lullie Viars, two brothers, Troy and Ray Horn, and two brothers-in-law, Marvin Truman White and Joseph Eugene Presley, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 53 years, Kathy Darlene Horne, of Rocky Gap, VA; two sons, John Thomas (Amy) Horne of Rocky Gap, VA and Matthew Burton (Kim) Horne of Ruckersville, VA; two grandsons, Cooper Lee & Waylon Jameson Horne of Ruckersville, VA; two step-grandchildren, Arrin (Kevin) Brooks and Jordan (Paige) Carter; sisters, Shirley White of Falmouth, VA, Goldie (David) Blanton of Brodhead, KY, Helen (Tim) Compton, of Raven, VA, and Jessie (Bobby) Matney of Raven, VA; brothers, Jerry (Anna Ruth) Horne of Wirtz, VA, Frankie Dean (Linda) Horn of Pineville, KY, and Jimmy (Merinda) Horn of Raven, VA. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends.

Funeral services for John Randolph Horne, Jr. will be held at Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel, Keen Mountain, VA, on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Alan Ashworth officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens, Cedar Bluff, VA.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday beginning at 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m.
