Joe Raymond Snider

Joe Raymond Snider, Jr. 83, of Fairmont passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Marion County on December 25, 1933 a son of the late Joe and Mary Robertson Snider. Joe was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church he is now a member of Life United Methodist Church. He faithfully attended the Friendship Class. Joe was always recruited to make green beans for the Church dinners. He graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1951 and Fairmont State University in 1956. He retired in 1980 from Owens Illinois Glass in Fairmont. He also worked for H&H Windows and Muffler Masters. Joe enjoyed farming for 50 years and he never met a stranger and knew everyone by their name. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Nancy Lee (White) Snider; four daughters, Cynthia Stickles and Donnie Tucker, Valerie Jordan and Mark Moran, Monica and Harry Adams, Leisa and Ray Urse and one son Joe Snider III and Jodi Yoho Snider; nine grandchildren, Jason (Kelly ) Stickles, Ryan (Vanessa) Stickles, Colin Stickles, Randall Jordan, Brandon Jordan, Garrett Jordan, Madison Urse, Rachael Adams (Damian) Ferek, Kirk (Chelsey) Snider, Jayna Snider (Sam) Davis and Sophi Snider and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Snider. Family and friends may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant on Monday from 1pm to 7pm and 10am to 11am on Tuesday. The funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday August 8, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Buckland and Rev. Clyde Beard officiating. Joe's Family's is honoring his request for cremation following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Life United Methodist Church, 1564 Mary Lou Retton Drive, Fairmont, WV. 26554 for the New Building Fund.
