Joe Steven Varner, age 70, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. He was born on October 4, 1955, in Jackson, Mississippi, to John Thomas Varner, Sr. and Ludie Stevens Varner.
Joe is survived by his wife, Cindy Varner; his sons, Joey Dewayne Varner (Rachel) and Dennis Sylvester Varner (Elliott); three grandchildren, Hailey Joe Varner, Haven Alexia Varner, and Alison Kathryn Varner. He also leaves behind his brother, Rusty Varner (Sandra), along with many nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, John T. and Ludie Varner; brothers, John Thomas Varner, Jr. and Tony Anthony Varner; and sister, Margaret Ann Simpkins.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with a chapel service following at 3:00 pm. Pastor Evan Sheridan will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Varner, Dennis Varner, Lee Varner, Jason Varner, Buddy Dickerson, and Kenny Raye.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 128 Bethel Church Rd., Brandon, MS 39042.
