Joe Dean Woods, 86, of Petersburg, KY, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, surrounded by his family.
A true outdoorsman, Joe found his greatest joy beneath open skies. Whether hunting, tending to his garden, or riding his tractor, he found peace and fulfillment in the simple beauty of the outdoors.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of animals and gardening, and the deep care he showed to his family. Joe’s quiet strength, warm smile, and appreciation for life’s simple joys—nature, laughter, and time with loved ones—will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his son-in-law, Jim Harden; his extended children, Warren and Willie Koching; his extended grandchild, Tammy Koching; his parents, Thomas and Nellie Mae (Walls); and his brothers, Bobby and Donnie.
He is survived by his children, Carenia Harden, Joe Woods Jr., Rodney Woods, Annette Woods (Temmy Carpenter), Jeremy Woods, and Kevin Woods; his grandchildren, Kyle, Justin, Ashley, JoJo, Rodney, Tyler, Elizabeth, Raven, Trenton, and Khloee; his extended grandchildren, Monica and Yolanda; and 16 great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by his siblings, Catherine, Jewel, Gene, Patty, Tommy, Marsha, Roger, and Wanda, as well as his dear friend, Joann Ferguson. All will forever cherish his memory and carry forward his love for the outdoors.
Visitation for Joe will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, 1833 Petersburg Road, Hebron, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 1 p.m.. Interment at Petersburg Cemetery.
