Joel Keith Armison

FILLMORE - Joel Keith Armison, 80, of Palm Desert, Calif., passed away Wednesday (Dec. 3, 2025) at home.

Born July 12, 1945, in Fillmore, Joel was the son of DeVere and Estella Armison, who preceded him in death.

At age eight he moved to California, in 1953, and graduated from Santa Ana Valley High School in Orange County, Class of 1963.

In 1966, Joel volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army and served his country as a member of the 5th Special Forces (Airborne) Green Beret in Vietnam through 1968.

Following his time in the army, Joel returned to California. Joel was married to Rebecca Sue Hardin for 10 years and they had one son, Jason, together.

Joel worked as a glazier, in construction and retired as a California State Correctional Officer.

After retiring, he enjoyed living at his home in Palm Desert, travelling, and spending time with family.

Joel is survived by his son, Jason Armison; and his daughter-in-law, Diana Armison. He is also survived by his sisters, Dale Edsall, Amy Anthony and Debra Hoffman; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon "Charlie" Armison; and sister, Fern Kauffroath-Duncan.

A funeral service will be held in the spring of 2026 with military honors in Pine Grove Cemetery, Fillmore.

Local arrangements are under the direction of the Kopler-Williams Funeral Home, 21 N. Genesee St., Fillmore.
