Joel J Brooks died on Saturday, September 7, 2024 with his family by his side and under the care of hospice.
Born on August 9th of 1955 to the late Rita Brooks, Joel was adopted by his uncle and Aunt Francis and Fran Brooks of the McGowen Road in North Bangor,New York. Joel attended brushton Moira School and later got the early release program to Malone Central School Joel United in marriage to Dorothy Richards McElwain on November 25, 1995. Joel retired from Malone Central School after 30 plus years of service.
Joel is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Malone; his half-sister, Rosemary Evans,of Arizona; his half-brothers, Paul and Arlene Evans, of Arizona, James Williams, of Arizona, Wayne and Megan Evans, of Florida; his half-sister, Nancy and David Blaze, of Missouri; his adopted sister, Patricia Perry; his daughters, Ann Pryce, of Malone and Kristy Brooks and her companion Joseph of Malone; stepsons, Matthew McElwain and his wife Leighann of Westville and John McElwain and his companion Josephine, of Plattsburgh; his granddaughters, Gracie McElwain of Malone, Carley McElwain of Westville, and Rayeann LaFlamme, of Gouverneur; his grandsons, Rayden Pryce of Malone, Andrew McElwain, of Malone and David McElwain, of Westville. He is predeceased by his brothers from adoption, Gary and Frankie Brooks.
Joel enjoyed watching his birds while spending time with his cat Sally. Joel was best known for telling jokes mainly dirty ones. Joel was cremated and wanted no services.
