Joel "Joey" Wayne Harper, age 64, a resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 14, 1960, in De Queen to Bobby Joe Harper and Karen Kay Tollett Harper.
Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents.
Joey retired from Cooper Tire, where he was employed as a multi-craft millwright. Joey was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, the Texas Rangers, and the Razorbacks. Joey was very involved with his grandkids' activities, and you would see him actively supporting them. He enjoyed his annual hunting trip to Colorado. Joey became an accomplished turkey and elk caller. He developed a love for gardening at a young age, where he learned it from his grandfather Papa Truman.
He is survived by his wife, Leah (Burger) Harper of Lockesburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Britney and Marcus Caudle of Maud, TX, Ashley and Jason Eeds of Broken Bow, OK; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Shawn and Libby McWhorter of De Queen, Austin and Jordan O'Rand of Harrah, OK, and Grayson Coleman of De Queen; Nine-teen grandchildren, Dallis, Zaiden, and Ellie O'Rand, Carson Coleman, Maddie, Kendall, Eli, and Phoenix Eeds, Clayton and Austyn Mitchell, Alyssa and Brayden Dawson, Ashlyn and Ally Caudle, Kalyn, Kashlynn, Kalib, Kaden, and Kailey McWhorter; one sister and brother-in-law Rebecca and Andrew Pope of Nashville, Arkansas; one uncle and two aunts, Gary and Betty Tollett and Anita Gilbert; a nephew Dustin Joel Smith and niece Meagan Smith as well as many wonderful friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Harper will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in De Queen, with Bro. John Henry Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Old New Hope Cemetery in the Greens Chapel Community.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2025, at the funeral home.
