Joel Wallace James, age 67, of Hendersonville passed away on October 12, 2024. Joel was born on October 28, 1956 to Billy Edward James and Laneice Wallace James Loudermilk in Nashville, Tennessee.
Joel attended Hendersonville High School. While in high school, he played football. He went on to further his education at Volunteer State Community College.
In his free time, Joel enjoyed fishing. He enjoyed making craft projects. Joel also loved spending time with his family and friends.
Most of all, Joel loved the Lord. He taught Sunday School, was an active member of First Baptist and Loper Connect Group, and was a former deacon.
Joel was a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.
Joel is preceded in death by his son, Guston Berry James; his father, Billy Edward James; and his grandparents, James Albert Wallace, Annie Carter Wallace, Burton Elam James, and Nannie Frost James.
Joel is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Margaret “Micky” Wheeler James; his mother, Laneice Wallace James Loudermilk; his siblings, Terry James Huffman (Lanny Huffman) and Lewis Burton James (Connie Bernini James); and his nieces and nephews, Mitch and Leslie Huffman, Maitland Huffman Lindsey and Kevin Castleman, and Wesley Castleman.
Visitation for Joel will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Hendersonville First Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow visitation, beginning at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Loper Connect Group at First Baptist Hendersonville, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (alexlemonade.org), or a charity of your choice in Joel’s honor.
