Joel A. Seifert, 65, passed away on October 22, 2024, at IU Health Saxony Hospital in Fishers, IN. He was born on March 3, 1959, in Elkhart, IN, to the late John Shank Seifert and Edith (Reem) Seifert. Joel attended Elkhart Memorial High School and graduated with the class of 1977. He spent many years growing up learning HVAC from his father and continued to stay in this line of work for his whole career working a variety of jobs, later serving as a building engineer.
Joel met and later married his wife, Donna Joann (Thompson) Seifert, on June 7, 1997. They had two children together, Nathan Joel Seifert and Kelly Joann Seifert. Prior to their marriage, Joel had two children, Heather Nicole Seifert and William John Seifert. Joel and Donna spent over 27 years by each other’s sides, raising their family and watching their children grow.
Joel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, who also had many joys in life. Joel was an outdoorsman, who loved being outside, and enjoyed hunting with his son, Nathan. He also was an avid sports fan, who could always be found wearing a baseball cap and was easily able to recall sports statistics from his whole life. Each year he looked forward to football season and being able to watch the Chicago Bears, Purdue University, and the Indianapolis Colts play. Joel took great pride in his children’s academic and athletic accomplishments as well as his son’s involvement in the Indiana National Guard. His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his family, who will all miss him very much.
