After graduating from Snohomish High School Joel went to Pacific Lutheran University for one semester. He joined the AirForce and served from 1966-1970.
He married Janet Hoines July 1970 and they made their home in Burien WA. Joel worked as an electrician for several different contractors, retiring in 2017.
Joel was involved in his church with prayer teams, doing electrical projects and learning God's Word. He went on several short term missions where he did electrical projects, taught the Bible, and helped in many ways. He enjoyed gardening, camping,, road trips, times with family.
Joel is survived by his wife Janet; daughter Emma (Gianna) Erik, Chloe, & Kimon;sons Jason (Jeanna) Luke & Lincoln; Jeff(Andrea) Avery& Lydia.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edvard & Mildred Skjonsby, his sisters Barbara Fosso and Pauline Schryver.
The memorial service will be at Hope Christian Church 623 SW 143rd Burien, WA November 23 at 11 am.
