Joen A. Carpentier

Joen A. (Malisch) Carpentier, 85, of Whitinsville, formerly of Blackstone, MA, died March 16, 2022 in Milford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Carpentier. Born in Ypsilanti, MI, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Frederick and Elda Arlene (Dreyer) Malisch.
Joen was a graduate of Whitney High School, Los Angeles, CA, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in Art from Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA. She met her husband in California, and later moved to Woonsocket, RI. Joen worked as an artist for Disney. She later worked as a receptionist, before becoming a homemaker. Joen was an active communicant of St. Agatha's Church, where she volunteered with many of its groups, including a craft group that she organized, and as an adult volunteer with the CYO. She was an active member of the Blackstone Senior Center. Joen was an extremely creative woman, who enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, arts & crafts, and drawing. She was a Boston Red Sox fan, and in her later years, when her vision began to fail her, would religiously listen to their games on the radio.
She leaves her children, Phillipe Carpentier, and his wife, Monique, of Bellingham, MA, Becky Keegan, and her late husband, James, of Uxbridge, MA, Cindy Leflore, and her husband, Randall, of Salem, NH, Sande Kay of Grass Valley, CA, Andre Carpentier, and his wife, Donna, of Woonsocket, Robert Carpentier, and his wife, Lisa, of Millville, Michelle Carpentier of Crestview, FL, and Laurie Keefe, and her husband, Daniel, of Blackstone; her sister, Barbara Rose, and her husband, Daniel, of Salem, NH; 26 grandchildren; 61 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Phyllis Fluette and her great-granddaughter, Lilianna Provost.
Her funeral will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM St. Agatha's Church, 34 Joffre Ave, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham. Calling hours are Sunday from 1PM - 4PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blackstone Senior Center, 15 St. Paul Street, Blackstone, MA 01504.
