Joey lived life his way-boldly, freely, and with a deep appreciation for great music, good friends, and the present moment. Known for his quick wit and unforgettable presence, he never showed up to a funeral without a flask and a story, and always brought comfort through laughter, even in the hardest times.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rhonda Stanford. Survivors include his loving wife, Jo Ann Stanford; father, Jan Stanford; sister, Anna Stanford; brothers, Josh Stanford (Jennifer Ashburn) and James Stanford; aunts, Lisa Fortner (Greg) and Cheryl Clagg (Marcus); uncles, Mark Stanford (Cathy) and Robin Stanford; niece and nephew, Avery Crump and Austin Edwards; along with numerous cousins who will miss him dearly.
His beloved fur babies-Macy, Ollie, Po, and Jade-also survive him, each a part of the home he helped fill with warmth and chaos.
Joey will be remembered not only for his big heart and larger-than-life personality, but also for the joy and laughter he brought to everyone lucky enough to know him.
A celebration of life will be 4:00-8:00 pm Friday, September 26, 2025 at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace.
