Connors Memorial Funeral Home - PortsmouthIt is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Johanna McKenna Collins, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on August 26, 2025. She lived a life filled with love and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Born on May 10, 1948 in Northampton, Massachusetts, Johanna was the beloved daughter of Howard and Anna Hayes and loving sister to brothers Howard, Peter and Lawrence. She attended Magnificat Girls Catholic High School in Rocky River, Ohio before enrolling at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she graduated with honors & met future husband Jim Collins of Charlestown MA. They were married on June 26th, 1971.
Johanna was a devoted wife and a dedicated mother of four who wholeheartedly committed herself to creating and maintaining a loving, nurturing household for her loved ones. She and her family resided in Dedham MA for many years before moving to Mansfield MA in 1994.
Johanna is survived by her devoted husband, James Daniel Collins; her daughter Johanna Collins of Alicante, Spain; her son Patrick and his wife Katelyn (Reen) Collins of Norwood MA; her son Timothy and his wife Rayhme (Cleary) Collins of Norwood MA; and her daughter Kathleen "Kerry" Collins and her husband Mike Dougan of Middletown RI; She was also a cherished mother-in-law to Jorge Senabre of Alicante, Spain.
Her love and warmth extended to her grandchildren, Miguel Senabre, Casey Collins, Megan Collins, Katherine Collins, Danny Collins, Flynn Dougan, and C.J. Dougan, who all brought her immense joy.
She is also survived by her brother, Peter Hayes, sisters-in-law, Linda Lee and Jeanne Hayes, brother-in-law, Paul Collins and his wife Mary Ellen Collins, sister-in-law, Betty Anne Collins as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Johanna was preceded in death by: parents Howard & Anna Hayes, and brothers Howard & Lawrence Hayes. As we remember Johanna, we take comfort in the love she shared and the beautiful memories we created together. Her gentle spirit will forever live on in our hearts. May she rest in peace.

Family, friends, and fans of Johanna are invited to join us for a "Celebration of Life" service & reception which will be held on Saturday, September 20th at the Old Colonial Café in Norwood MA at 1:00 PM.
