John Thralls Obituary

John "Rick" Thralls, 65, of Waynesburg, passed away Monday, September 23, 2024. He was born October 26, 1958. Rick was known for his radiant smile and the twinkle in his eye, especially when speaking of his children. He embraced life with zest, always seeking to make the most of each day. Rick graduated from Waynesburg Central High School and soon thereafter began his career at Consol Blacksville #1 Mine. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Thralls Contracting / Waynesburg Landscape Supply, which he passionately operated for 40 years until his passing. Rick and his children attended the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg. Rick also found joy on the open road and the water. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, continuing a family tradition of riding. From being a champion motorcross rider in his youth to adventuring to the Golden Gate Bridge on a street bike, and enjoying time on the water with loved ones. Rick cherished these moments deeply. Rick is survived by his children, Ann-Marie, McKenzie, Johnna and Nash; his sisters, Caroline Coughenour (Dean), and Lisa Crawford; and his brother, Rodney "Bud" Thralls (Anna). He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, John F. Thralls and Shirleene Treece Thralls; and his brother, Robert F. Thralls. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Details regarding charitable contributions, in Rick's memory, will also be provided in due course. Rick's legacy is marked by his enduring love for his family, his business acumen, and his adventurous spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Rick helped me achieve success racing motocross and letting me tag along to all the local tracks when I was a kid, he had a heart as big as the moon.
My sister Diana and I want to send our love and prayers for the children, and Rick´s siblings, he was so passionate about Friends, Exploring the country on bikes, and generally just such a good man. We were just talking about going to High Point for the Big Dave Vet Memorial races next week, you will be there in our hearts and memories Rick.

Rick was definitely one of a kind with his piercing eyes and infectious smile. I keep saying he never met a stranger. Rick has always held a special place in my heart. I can picture the reunion in Heaven. Chick, Virginia, his parents, brother Bobby, Greg Barnhart, Dave Lohr and my dad Tom Blaker who thought of Rick as a son RIP Rick you will forever have a part of my heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to his children Ann-Marie, Mackenzie, Johnna, and little Nash.

I will miss Rick. I would see him from time to time and we would talk. He would always talk about his kids first! He was really smart, capable, industrious and known by so many people. He was unique in so many ways. So sad that he is now gone. Praying for his family and friends.

My husband Eric and I thought a lot of Rick . We helped each other out when we could. He´s done a lot of work @ our place . His children was his whole world . We never knew what he was coming up here in or on . One time he came up on his Red Honda motorcycle. He invited my husband and I to go out on his boat , but never got the opportunity to go with our busy schedules. His smile would light a room up . You will be missed !!! RIP Rick Eric & Charlene
