John E. Abramovitz, 74, of Pierce City, MO, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021, while at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO.
John was born on August 7, 1947, in Wheaton, MO, the second son born to Edmund and RoseAnna (Miller) Abramovitz. John grew up on the family farm and worked with his parents and siblings. He graduated from Pierce City High School with the class of 1965.
For many years, John worked for Wells Aluminum, Monett, in Production and the Maintenance Dept. Following his retirement, he began working for Pierce City Schools, also in the Maintenance Dept. John loved working with his hands, whether it was fixing something or on the farm. He also loved the outdoors and his gardens. John attended the Eastside church of Christ in Monett.
On October 26, 1973, in Monett, MO, John married Kathy Smith. To this union, they were blessed with one daughter.
John is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home; his daughter, Jeni Haddock and husband Brian, of Pierce City; one grandson, Gavin King, of Pierce City; seven brothers, Francis Abramovitz and wife Anita, of Butterfield, MO, Leonard Abramovitz, of Wentworth, MO, Ralph Abramovitz and wife Mary, of Wentworth, Mark Abramovitz, of Laurel, MD, Robert Abramovitz and wife Shelly, of Reeds, MO, Paul Abramovitz and wife Mary, of Pierce City and Michael Abramovitz and wife Glo, of Pierce City; two sisters, Marylyn Mercer and husband Rick, of Pierce City and Tena Abramovitz, of Pierce City; two sisters-in-law, Patsy Smith and Carla Smith, of Monett; and one brother-in-law, Phil Schad, of Purdy, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Margie Schad and two siblings in infancy; and one sister-in-law, Deena Abramovitz.
Friends may pay their respects from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Buchanan Funeral Home. Private family services will be held. Memorial contributions have been suggested to the Neosho Christian School or to the Pierce City FFA in care of the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
