Obituary of John C. Ahern, III

John C. Ahern III, age, 49, of Morris, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Lightways Hospice Home in Joliet. Born in Chicago to John C. Ahern, Jr., and Cynthia (nee Black) Ahern, and he was raised in Joliet before relocating to Minooka.

He worked for Smurfit Westrock New Lenox Container Plant for over 25 years. He had a deep passion for music and playing the guitar. He loved spending time outdoors, fishing, and shooting. He was a dedicated and lifelong Chicago White Sox fan. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and took great pride in being the best Papa. His warmth, humor, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Chastity (nee Marek) Ahern; his children, John (Ashley) Ahern, IV, Joseph (Heidi) Ahern, and Kelsie (Tyler) Ahern; eight grandchildren; his mother, Cindy Ahern; his father, John C. (Pam) Ahern, Jr.; siblings, Jason Ahern, Candice (Angel) Ahern, and Sarah (Joe) Alexander. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friend to cherish his memory.

Preceded by his brother, Danny Alexander.

As it was John's request, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of Fred C. Dames Funeral Home in Morris, IL. The family is planning a celebration of his life in the near future. In lieu of flowers, memorials to L ightways Hospice in Joliet would be appreciated.
