John Arthur Ahlberg Jr., of Gulf Breeze, FL, passed away on August 22, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on November 15, 1956, John lived a life defined by love, laughter, and deep dedication to his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness and warm-hearted nature.
John is survived by his wife, Peggy Ahlberg; his children Fletcher Ahlberg, Chase Ahlberg (Rachael), with granddaughters Camryn and Charlotte; Kendall Schrader (Chris), with granddaughter Norah, and stepson Douglas Angeloff. He is also survived by his siblings, Jimmy Ahlberg and Cindy Schluter. John is now reunited with his father and mother, John and Marilyn Ahlberg.
An athlete at heart, John spent his younger years running, swimming, biking, and competing in triathlons and long-distance races. Yet his favorite place to be was the beach-the place he loved most, and where he met and married Peggy. Whether building sandcastles, throwing a football, surfing, or simply enjoying the sun, the beach was John's sanctuary, second only to the warmth of home.
At home, John took pride in his yard, plants, and countless projects-buildingtreehouses, swings, decks, planters, etc. Although he never thought he wanted a dog, he became a proud "dog-dad" to a line of beloved dachshunds. John will be remembered as a man of integrity and humor-someone who always went out of his way for family, neighbors, and friends. A lifelong Packers fan, he often joked, "Lions, Vikings, and Bears-oh my!" And like his favorite film, The Wizard of Oz, he lived with the belief that, above all, "There's no place like home."
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the simple joy of being together.
