John Thomas Akers ll, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Gallatin, Tennessee, on December 13, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on October 31, 1942, in Owensboro, Kentucky, John lived a life full of devotion, integrity, and dedication to his family and country.

John proudly served in the United States Air Force for 23 years, achieving the rank of Munitions Systems Supervisor and Inflight Refueling Manager. John was AF rank: E-9, Chief Master Sergeant; He earned several Air Medals, recognitions, and awards during his tenure. His commitment to service did not end upon retirement; he continued to display a passion for his country. John inspired those around him with his outstanding character, honesty, and loyalty.

John also owned and operated his own construction business building houses across East Tennessee and West Virginia. His pride in his work was evident, as well as his appearance. John and the men in his charge were affectionately known as the "Gucci Boys."

John was fiercely devoted to his family. An avid golfer, he cherished the times spent playing on the green and enjoying coffee with his close-knit group of friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and had a passion for college sports, particularly for Alabama.

John leaves behind his devoted wife, Beverly Akers; son, Kevin Akers (Jackie) of Allen, Texas; daughter, Elizabeth Wallin (Chris); grandson, Kole Akers (Madi) of Brentwood, Tennessee; and his newborn great-granddaughter, Raley Anne Akers, also of Brentwood, Tennessee. He is also survived by brothers David Akers of Goshen, Kentucky, Jack Akers of Birmingham, Alabama, and Pat Akers of Salt Lake City, Utah; and sisters Judy Villa of California, Margaret Thurman of Owensboro, Kentucky, Kathy Foster of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Becky Dully of Mooresville, North Carolina. He is fondly remembered by his closest friends, Sandy McClendon and Bobby Hennings.

John was preceded in death by his father, Roy Akers; mother, Mary Jane (Castlen) Akers; sister, Janie Matthews; and brother, Phil Akers.

The Akers family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Alive Hospice for their compassionate care during his final days. The Akers family kindly request memorial donations in honor of John be made to Alive Hospice.

John's legacy of love, loyalty, and integrity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.

The family will be conducting a private celebration of John's life, but there will be an opportunity for friends and neighbors to pay their respects at a later time.
