John D. Akridge

September 19, 1949 - September 26, 2025

Fairview Heights, Illinois - John D. Akridge, age 76, born on September 19, 1949 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Friday, September 26, 2025 at his residence with family at his side.

John was a data center manager for Wells Fargo in St. Louis, MO and previously worked for Edison Brothers for 35 years. He was a baseball coach for the Fairview Heights IL Khoury League for 40 years. He also ran the Youth Basketball League for YMCA and was a referee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda M. "Wendy" Akridge; his parents, Roy and Rose, nee Hedwig, Akridge; and his brother, Donald Akridge. John is survived by his son, Shawn Akridge of Fairview Heights, IL, and his niece and caregiver of several years, Somer Shoemaker.
