John Charles Amatuzio, of Claymont, Delaware, died Friday, May 30, 2025, in Wilmington Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, March 21,1964, to the late Ralph and Doris "Faye" Amatuzio, John was an excellent artist and drummer, while also receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. A lifetime Roman Catholic, he held God close to his heart.
John was an avid Penn State University and New York Jets fan, talking for hours about football and if the Nittany Lions and Jets could finally win the big game. He adored the beach, often describing amazing memories from his trips to Wildwood, New Jersey. He loved cars, owning too many to count, and would frequently drag his young nieces and nephews around the surrounding states looking for just the right one.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother Thomas Amatuzio and sister Carol Healy.
John is survived by his sister-in-law Denise Amatuzio of Bear, Delaware, brother-in-law Harry Healy of Bear, Delaware, nieces Lauren Derrickson (Patrick) of Bear, Delaware, Danielle Glass (Eric) of Middletown, Delaware, Nicole Harmon (Danielle Bower) of State College, Pennsylvania, nephews Thomas Amatuzio (Nicole) of Middletown, Delaware and Anthony Amatuzio (Kristi) of Saline, Michigan, and many other extended family members.
The family would also like to thank the wonderful nurses and aides at Wilmington Hospital's Accent Care Hospice Unit. Ryan, Juli, Deanna, Ali, Tracy, Christina, Rosie, and Melvita: your attention, patience and kindness with John as well as to our family was unmatched. We are immensely grateful. Nicole Scott, Beth Cooksey, Dr. Jeff Guarino, and Dr. Liu, there are not enough words. He truly felt like you were in his corner. Thank you for the grace that you always showed him.
Services will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Accent Care Hospice, 220 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
