John William Anderson, II passed away on, January 9, 2026. Born in San Antonio, Texas on, March 19, 1958, John was the son of MSgt John William Anderson Sr., and Virginia Cook Anderson.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Virginia Mathis and Elizabeth M. Keaney (Tim), two nieces, Layla Shepherd and Erin Prowett (Sunny); his nephew, Shane Keaney (Katherine), and his great-nephews, Walker, Will, and Joe Mathis. John was preceded in death by his mother (Virginia), father (John), sister (Bonnie), and nephews (Michael and Paul Mathis).
As the son of an Air Force veteran, John resided in Texas, Maine, Libya, Africa, Louisiana, and Georgia with the family. In 1976, John graduated from Warner Robins High
School in Warner Robins, GA. John earned his undergraduate degree in engineering from Southern Technical Institute in Marietta; GA. John worked at Lockwood Greene in Atlanta for several years, then moved to California to take a position at the Southern California Edison Engineering firm. For the next 34 years, he resided in California and worked as a civil structural designer drafter at various companies on several significant projects, including the renovation of San Diego's historical Hotel del Coronado and the rehabilitation of the Kern River Powerhouse No. 1.
In 2012, he married Laura McConnell, who had two daughters, Victoria Franz and Caitlin Lowe, still living at home. Although he had no children of his own, John cared for Laura's girls as if they were his own. John remained in touch with them after they moved out and married, often taking vacations and making future plans with them.
John was a huge sports fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Falcons. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, laughing, and spending time with friends and family. His humor and winning smile will be missed by all who knew him.
