John "Buck" Dale Arthur, 87, of High Springs, Florida passed away on June 13, 2024. John was born in Mineral County, West Virginia on December 2, 1936 to Hollie Dale Arthur and Ruth Naomi Arthur. John was married to Sylvia D. Arthur for 42 years.John retired from SCM Chemical Company in Baltimore, MD., where he worked as a storeroom clerk for 41 years. He enjoyed hunting, swimming, scuba diving, camping and the outdoors. He also enjoyed singing his favorite worship songs for others at local churches. He was also actively involved in the Sherrifs Association Crime Watch and in Mt. Horeb Baptist Church of High Springs, Florida.He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Arthur of High Springs, FL; his daughter, Peggy Sue Miller of West Virginia, his Stepson Lonnie Metz and his wife Stacy of Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Calah and Reece Clayton of Belmont, NC, Austin, Sydney Metz of Etters, PA and Savannah Metz of Summerville, SC; and four loving great-grandchildren Gunner, June, Wyatt and Archer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hollie and Ruth Arthur.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Johns name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105, by phone 800-805-5856, or online at https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html.The graveside funeral service will be at Noon on Tuesday, June 17, 2024 at the Spring Ridge Cemetery, 5529 NE 52nd Pl, High Springs, Florida.
