John ATANASOFF Obituary

ATANASOFF, John Vincent II Dedicated father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, mentor, businessman and friend, passed away peacefully, on October 10, 2025, in Boulder, Colorado.

John was born on February 5, 1935, in Ames, Iowa. John was the son of John and Lura Meeks Atanasoff; and younger brother to Elsie and Joanne. John moved to Boulder in 1943 and was a determined child, mastering any and all subjects from the earliest age. John graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Engineering and headed east to work, while also attending the University of Rochester, earning a master's degree in mechanical engineering. There, John met Margaret "Peggy" McIntyre and married in August,1961 in Lake Placid New York. After moving to Massachusetts, they raised four children: Suzanne, John III, Nancie, and Todd. John continued to further his education, receiving an advanced degree from MIT's Sloan School of Management, while working for Avco Systems Division.

In 1981, John took a job as General Manager of EG&G Sealol and moved the family to East Greenwich, Rhode Island. In 1994, John and family lost Peggy to cancer, just as John took a role as CEO of Colorado Med Tech in Colorado.

After establishing himself in Boulder, John met and married his current wife, Tommie, of 32 years. John helped raise Tommie's children, Tanya Menchi and Ryan Farina.

John loved tennis, was an avid reader, could hold his own in any conversation and up until his final days, analyzed everything in search of a more elegant solution. He believed in treating everyone fairly and never deviated as it was in his nature. He inherited his sense of humor and laughter from his mother, Lura, and loved to dress in bright fashionable colors whenever possible to the dismay of a few of his more conservative friends and relatives.

John is survived by his loving wife, Tommie; his children, Suzanne (Russel), John III (Stephanie), Nancie (Matthew), Todd (Molly); Tommie's children, Tanya (Rich) and Ryan; 12 grandchildren, R.J., Allie, Hannah, Jason, Zoe (Nolton), Kayleigh, Izzy, Emily, John IV, Keene, Heath and Zoe (Farina); and two great-grandchildren, Cadan and Bridge.

It is well understood that John will be performing a "victory dance" wherever he finds himself today.
