John Francis Azevedo, 93, longtime Hanford resident, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on July 2, 2025.

John was born on March 3, 1932, to Frank and Bertha Azevedo in Hanford, California.

John was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, After returning home, he spent over 50 years as a truck driver, logging thousands of miles across the state. His stories from the cab were legendary among those who took the time to listen. When he wasn't working, John found peace outdoors. A lifelong hunter, he cherished the stillness of early mornings in the woods and the rhythm of nature. Whether tracking deer or walking old trails, he felt closest to God under an open sky.

He had a fondness of cats in his later years, and was known for feeding and caring for many in the neighborhood. He made sure none ever went hungry.

His strength, determination and deeply held convictions were defining traits - a strong willed man who stood firm in what he believed.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary, his sisters, Louise Sanders, Bernice Silva, Mary Azevedo, Barbara Azevedo and his brother, Roy Azevedo.

He is survived by his sisters, Hilda Suprian of Hanford, Josephine (Joe) Armas of Hanford and brothers Frank Azevedo of Santa Maria and Tony Azevedo of Nevada as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

His family would like to thank the caregivers at the Kings Healthcare Center who supported him in his later years.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 25, at Immaculate Heart of Mary from 9-10am. A rosary will be prayed at 10 am on Friday, July 25 at Immaculate Heart of Mary followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen
