John Raymond Babel

John Raymond Babel, passed away on December 24, 2025. He was born June 10, 1946 in Detroit, MI. He was the son of John and Freida (French) Babel. He graduated from Southlake High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force. John worked for many years with his father at the family business of Babel Roofing. He had a strong work ethic which, he applied to his life, not relying on others to take care of himself even during his many years of dialysis. He constructed a bright yellow Manta Mirage Kit Car which he was very proud of. He was a frugal man. He had a vast knowledge of politics and enjoyed debating and discussing the daily news. He had a great love for the Lord and was involved with the Catholic Church. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his Sister - Kathleen Tomayko, Nieces and Nephew Christine (David Esper) Warren, Kimberly (James) Patterson, Terry (Theresa) Tomayko; Great Nieces and Great Nephews: Brittany (Jim) Schocke their child Remi Schocke, Aleigha Warren, Alexander Warren, Joshua (Paulina) Young, April Young, Nicole Young her Children: Madison and McKenna Gulbrandsen, Meagan (Justin) Davies their Child Kinley Davies, Mitchell Tomayko, David (Karrah) Tomayko their Children Paityn, Aspen and Hayden Tomayko, and John Tomayko.
We found a note in Uncle Johnny's paperwork that said, "Let's put the FUN back in FUNeral!"
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 from 9:00am - 10:00am with the Funeral Mass to be held at 10:00am. All services will be held at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, Romeo, MI 48065. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp., MI. A Funeral Luncheon will be held at Luciano's Italian Restaurant located at 39091 Garfield Road, Clinton Twp., MI.
