John Willie Bailey

JOHN WILLIE "JOHNNY" BAILEY, 90 years of age of the Lovers Gap section of Vansant, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the Buchanan General Hospital, Grundy, VA. Born in Prater, VA, he was the son of the late Evans and Altia (Deel) Bailey. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County, was of the Old Regular Baptist faith and was an avid supporter of Pilgrims Home Old Regular Baptist Church. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother. Johnny was a Coal Mine Operator, Heavy Equipment Operator and was involved in the Coal Truck Industry. He enjoyed car racing, spending time with family and friends, and making new friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennesel (Bailey) Counts; Brothers: Willoughby and Hanford Bailey; Sisters: Connie Lou (Bailey) McClanahan and Pearlie Marie Bailey.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Joanette Kiser of Richlands, VA; Grandchildren: Jeremy Bailey, Nathan Counts and Matt Kiser; Great-Grandchild: Wyatt Counts; Brothers: Everett (Trula) Bailey of Prater, VA, Arnold Bailey of Prater, VA, Leo (Deborah) Bailey of Prater, VA; Sisters: Mable Gibbs of Hurley, VA, Pansy Hawkins of Gray, TN, Donna Turpin of Prater, VA.
Also, survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Services for JOHN WILLIE "JOHNNY" BAILEY will be conducted Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Arnold Bailey, Elder Josh Bell, Brother Willard Hicks and other Old Regular Baptist preachers officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey-Owens Cemetery, Haysi, VA.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
