John A. Baird, born on January 28, 1956, in Mendota, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on August 20, 2025, at Heritage Woods of Ottawa, Illinois. John grew up on a farm near Earlville, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the land that would remain with him throughout his life. He graduated from Earlville High School in 1974. After spending many years in Princeton, he made the decision to move to Heritage Woods of Ottawa in 2023, seeking the comfort and community of supportive living. Throughout his life, John's faith was an important aspect of his identity. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville and later attended First Lutheran Church in Princeton, Illinois. John is survived by his brothers, James (Jane) Baird of Earlville, Illinois, and Dr. Thomas (Carolyn) Baird of Orange Park, Florida, along with his niece, Shannon Baird of Orange Park, Florida. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Howard and Margaret (Howe) Baird, and a brother who passed away in infancy. In accordance with John's wishes, there will be no public services.
