John Dean "Rover" and "Big Dog" Baldauf, 75, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025 at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

He was born May 26, 1950, in Lafayette, to the late Walter and Virginia (Lewis) Baldauf.

John graduated from Battle Ground High School with the class of 1968.

He honorably served in the United State Marine Corp.

His marriage was to Sandra Weaver and she survives

John worked as a Senior Utility Operator for Eli Lilly & Company for over thirty two years before retiring.

He was a member of the Navy Club and VFW Post #1154.

John was passionate about Purdue Volleyball. As anyone would know by his hooping and hollering which was heard throughout the gymnasium.

If you truly knew John, you would have known that junking was his true love besides his family

Surviving with his wife, Sandra J. Baldauf of Lafayette, are two sons, Jason (Amanda) Baldauf of Lafayette and Dr. Michael "Walter" (Sonya) Baldauf of Escanaba, MI; a brother, David (Marsha Martin) Baldauf of Lafayette. Also surviving are grandchildren, Nathaniel Baldauf of Lafayette, Riley Lynn of Lafayette, Caden Hoffmann of Lafayette, John Dean Baldauf of Michigan, Bruce Baldauf of Michigan, Matthew Kemp of Arkansas, Robert McClane of Lafayette, Chanoa McClane of Kokomo, and Brendan McClane of Lafayette. As well as his beloved cat Rosie

John was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and three brothers.

A special thank you to Dr. Mulder and staff, Franciscan Dialysis Group, Dr. Magmaua Akhter and staff, Randolph Fire and Rescue EMS.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Pastor Dan Reece officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, in Romney.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association, The kidney Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
