John Calvin Barnes

John Calvin Barnes passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 29, 2022, in Ponchatoula, LA at the age of 72. He was born August 22, 1949, in St. Louis, MO to the late Paul James Barnes and the late Dorothy Alice (Feutz) Barnes. He was peacefully called home to be with our heavenly father while surrounded by his family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was a very devoted and proud father and grandfather as well as a very proud veteran of the US Navy and the Vietnam War. Additionally, he was also an avid fisherman and found his peace while being on the water. He would never pass up an opportunity to share one of his stories from his service to this country or a successful fishing trip. His legacy and humble spirit will remain and live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.

He is survived by his two children Maria A. (Barnes) Hoyt and John P. Barnes of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his sister Linda Sue (Barnes) Baer of De Soto, MO. All of whom loved and adored him very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tamra M. Eschenbrenner of St. Louis, MO, his sister Paula J. (Barnes) Campbell of St. Louis, MO, and his brother Thomas Edward Barnes of Bogalusa, LA.

In honoring his humble spirit and wishes, arrangements have been entrusted to Harry McKneely & Son Funeral home for cremation and private services.
