SWANTON - John T. Barnier, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026 at his home, he was welcomed into heaven with open arms from his guardian angels.
He was born on December 6, 1964 in Burlington to Marie Barnier.
John was in the United States Navy for 6 years, stationed in Belgium as an Electronics Technician, he retired from the Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class. John was an avid baseball fan and especially loved the Boston Red sox. He enjoyed long weekends in Boston and family trips. He loved to travel, with Europe being one of his favorite places. He would often take long rides through the islands or down to St. Albans Bay to take in the scenery. John was a local Drywall contractor for over 30 years, serving the community. He always respected anyone who he crossed paths with. He provided for his family, was very selfless and supported them through life. He was very excited to be a grandpa and was always caring.
John is survived by his children, Ryan Barnier and Sal, Shane Barnier and Tegan, Tyler Barnier and Ashley, Nick Barnier and Sara, and Audrey Barnier and Jared; grandchildren, Juliette and Charlotte; sister, Lita Chagnon and Jim; nieces, Caitlin and Heather and Rob; nephew, Jordan Derosia and Elizabeth; grandniece, Skylar; grandnephew, Emmett. John was predeceased by his mother, Marie Barnier, sister, Penny Derosia.
In respecting John's wishes, there will be no public services for him.
