John Bassinger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home - Allen on Sep. 26, 2025.
John L. Bassinger III, of Allen, Texas, passed away on September 24, 2025, at the age of 70.

He was born on June 27, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, to John L. Bassinger Jr. and Roxie Hart. A proud graduate of North Dallas High School, John built a life rooted in hard work, kindness, and simple joys.

He married his wife Miriam McGrady March 3, 2003 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

He dedicated 33 years of his professional life to South Press in Garland, Texas, where he formed lifelong friendships and retired with the respect and admiration of his peers. Known for his strong work ethic and warm personality, John left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of working with him.

John had a deep love for classic Westerns and television shows from the 1950s, often reminiscing about the golden age of entertainment. Whether it was the charm of a black-and-white cowboy film or the nostalgia of vintage sitcoms, these comforts brought him great joy. He also loved to dance - always ready to tap his foot to a good tune or take a spin on the dance floor.

Above all, John will be remembered for his generous spirit, loving heart, and the way he made others feel welcome and cared for. He had a remarkable ability to light up a room with his humor, warmth, and sincerity.

He is survived by his wife Miriam Bassinger; daughter, Kim Bassinger; son, John Bassinger IV; son, Jud Rowe; daughter, Erin Rowe; grandchild, Tayson Bassinger; sister, Debbie Robertson; brother, Curt Lundberg; three dogs, Belle, Jett, and B; and a host of other loving family, friends, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.

The family will have a visitation on Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
