Thank you everyone for your messages and condolences. He really was awesome in so many ways, and the kind words and abodances of support my family and mom have received has been incredible. He was the best dad, husband, grandpa, brother, son, and friend to so many and we miss him every minute of everyday.

Patty - I was a longtime high school friend of Johns from Burnsville, and have great memories of outdoor adventures with him not only in HS, but as adults with John & Kelly and Tim. I was so taken aback by Johns sudden passing, I just wanted to tell you how much I liked John and how I loved his energetic spirit, our mutual passion of the outdoors and I know you and your family meant the world to him.
He truly was one of the best people I have ever known.
With warm regards and my sincere condolences,
Mike Wesley

Dear Patty, Alicia, Suzy and Bobby,
Sending hugs and prayers to all of you. We are so sorry to hear of John's sudden passing. We have so many memories of sharing the bleachers with all of you. Will always remember John's sideways grin...he was so proud of all of you. We miss you!

So sorry to hear of Johns passing. Working with John at Verso, I found him to be a very fair and honest leader with compassion for the workers. I´m sure he will be missed greatly.

Very tragic to hear of John´s passing. John was one of the best to work for in my entire career. He always led by example and considered others before himself. He truly understood what it took to be a great leader. May he RIP. My sincere sympathy to Patty and family.

Dear Patty-So sorry...didn´t know John, but I recall hearing your dad talk glowingly about him when I was in my teens...I´m thinking he was a chemical engineering major, and your dad remarked that John was "writing his own ticket" career-wise. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family....

So sorry to hear. In my 34 years at the Duluth mill, no one worked harder to save that special place, Ever, than John.

I worked with John back in his NewPage days. One of the nicest and hardest working person I ever met. He poured his heart and soul into the Deluth Mill. I was so sad to hear of his passing at such a young age.
