In Loving Memory of John F. Bechtold

September 21, 1946 - February 22, 2026

John F. Bechtold was born on September 21, 1946, in San Diego, California, to Gerald and Jeraldine Bechtold, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James Bechtold, and his son, James Aaron Bechtold.

John is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Pam Thomas Bechtold, his daughter Julie Diane Bechtold, stepdaughter Melissa Thomas Wegner (Jeff Wegner), stepson Nick Thomas, and grandchildren: Carter Goslee (Tina Brown), Callee Goslee, Cayden Goslee, Kylie Thomas, and Allyson Thomas.

A Life of Service and Dedication

From 1964 to 1967, John proudly served in the United States Navy. His years in service remained some of his most treasured memories.

John went on to enjoy a year career with TWA and American Airlines, forming lifelong friendships and finding great meaning in the relationships he built. He loved reconnecting with fellow retirees and reflecting on the many experiences they shared.

A Life Filled With Adventure John married Pam Thomas on October 3, 1995. Together, they created a life rich with travel, Chiefs games, ocean adventures, boating, supporting grandchildren's activities and time spent with family.

John had a deep love for the water-boating, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and exploring marine life. Shortly after their marriage, John and Pam purchased a condo in Key Largo, later purchasing a part time home in Port St. Lucie before settling permanently in Fort Pierce. There, they found a beloved community in Harbour Isle whose friendship and support means the world to them.

John took every opportunity to be on the water, whether on the lakes of Missouri or the ocean waters he adored in Florida.

A Final Journey to the Sea

In keeping with his wishes, John's ashes will be returned to the ocean that brought him joy throughout his life. On April 14th, 2026, family and friends will gather aboard a flotilla of boats along the Florida coast to celebrate his life and honor his request
