John Willie Berry, 88, of Seneca, SC peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.
He was born on December 3, 1936, in Abbeville County, Alabama. He was a son of the late John Hill Berry and the late Martha Stinson Berry. He served with the National Guard for ten years and was an active member of Hepsibah Baptist Church.
John worked for 35 years with Eastern Airlines as the national parts supervisor before retiring. Papa, as he was known by family and friends, never met a stranger. He lived life, with rules, of course, but to the fullest. He enjoyed golf and prized the time he spent on the "green." He taught his children many things, from planting, handyman chores, caring for animals, respect, and responsibility to following Christ Jesus. He will be sorely missed by his loving family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Ann Berry; sons, John Scott Berry (Meredith) and Eric Hill Berry (Lisa); daughter, Sindie S. Crease (Victor); brother, Charles E. Berry (Marge); sister, Janie Sue Murphy (dec. Guy); grandchildren, Victor, Melisssa, Michelle, Jennifer, JT, Courtney, Krystal, Lori. Zak, Eric, Ethan, and Brenden; great grandchildren, Mykala, Jaylynn, Kyler, Peyton, Erich, Namaste, and Scarlett; great-great grandchildren, Robyn and Milo.
The family will greet friends and family on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Hepsibah Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life to honor John, will follow at 2:00 pm with military honors.
Memorials may be sent to the Mission Fund at Hepsibah Baptist Church, 1304 Friendship Road, Seneca, SC 29678.
