A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, with a visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

John was born on July 2, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of James and Joan (Krumm) Biederman. He was a graduate of Kennedy High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Mt. Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, where he studied software engineering. On November 10, 1990, John was united in marriage to Linda Ann Melchert at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion. John had a long and rewarding 33-year career as a software Engineer at Rockwell Collins.

John had a zest for life that extended beyond his career. He created many fond memories with Linda traveling to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and exploring numerous national parks, experiences that enriched his love for nature. He had a passion for weightlifting and music, where he excelled as a drummer. His admiration for the Beatles was well known among friends and family. One of John's proudest accomplishments was his time spent as a drummer for the rock band Backstreet Revelry, a chapter in his life that highlighted his musical talent and love for performance. Most importantly, he especially cherished his time spent with family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

John is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 35 years, Linda Biederman; sisters, Janet (Jerry) Mayer, Jeannie (Tom) Groth, and Jackie Reagan; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Miller, Sarah Blanka, Brian Koon, Aimee Ivancic, Kevin Groth, Andrea Peters, Michael Kula, William Gade, and Elizabeth Jakate; and sisters-in-law, Kristin (Christopher) Kula and Deborah (Andrew) Hansen.
