Kent Cromer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home on Feb. 24, 2026.
Kent James Cromer, 63, passed away Friday February 20, 2026. Visitation Sunday March 1, 2026, 2-5 pm, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Stateroom. Service Monday March 2, 2026, 11:00 am at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Kent was born April 27, 1962, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Lugene and Donna Cromer. He graduated from Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. He also graduated from Kirkwood Community College. He worked as a mechanic, management in the hardware business & retail auto parts and most recently at Legacy Manufacturing in Marion as a product specialist.

He is survived by Kim (Canterbury) Cromer, his wife of 32 years, his stepson: Wayne Canterbury, and stepdaughter: Diane (Jason) Bible. Grandsons: Robbie Witcraft. Dekota & Dalton Canterbury, Sister, Kara (Kelly) Leyse. Brother-in-law Alan (Judy) Smith, Niece: Madalyn Leyse & Nephew: D.J. Smith, along with several cousins & Close friends Cathy & Kris Hill, Bob & Lisa Hansen, and their dog Kaia.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother: Lugene & Donna Cromer, several aunts & uncles, and cousin: Alan VanKley.

Kent's father introduced him at a young age, probably three or four, to the fascinating world of automobiles. After church on Sunday mornings, they could be found driving through new and used car lots to see what was available. Race cars became an early obsession, and Kent could be found at many local dirt tracks enjoying the racing world, helping in the pits with cars #9 (Bobby Hansen) & 61(Lloyd Bacon). This created many lifelong friendships. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and Dirt Late Mondel races on TV along with his favorite college football team, the Nebraska Huskers.

He loved to camp and travel with Kim and friends. A special place to visit was the state of Arizona where he thought one day he may retire.

Memorials may be made to the family at Corda Credit Union Membership# 152377, Marion IA 52302 and will be distributed according to Kent's wishes.
