John “Bob” Robert Bowden, 81, of Adamsville, Ohio died Saturday evening, February 28, 2026 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville.
Born February 7, 1945, in Salem Township, he was a son of the late John F. and Doris (Young) Bowden and a 1963 graduate of Adamsville High School. After high school, Bob graduated from The Ohio State Barber School. He was a member of Salem Community Church and member of Hubbard Lodge #220 F. & A.M. for 57 years. Bob was a Salem Township Trustee for 8 years, 4-H advisor for Adamsville Mixed Farmers for 37 years and a barber for over 60 years. He enjoyed farming cattle and spending time with his family.
Surviving are two daughters, Trina and Treva; four grandchildren, Minette, Olivia, Jacque (Jordan), and J.R. (Kaylynn); seven great grandchildren, Pierce, Haylie, Titian, Aryianna, Audrielle, Oaklynn, and Ryleigh; two sisters, Delores Johnson of Zanesville and Darlene Hoffer of Adamsville; special friend, Larry Lapp, Barry Browning, and Tobey Knipe.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly J. Bowden, whom he married September 6, 1964, and who died January 2, 2026, and an infant brother.
Friends and family may visit 11 AM to 2 PM Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the Dresden Chapel of Vensil | Wagner | Marshall Funeral Home, 714 Main Street.
Funeral services will immediately follow the conclusion of calling hours at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the funeral home with Pastor Wayne Hogue officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, OH 43701 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
