John Allen Boggs passed away on May 10, 2025. John was born on September 14, 1937, in Liberal, Missouri to the late Fred and Mildred Boggs.
John was a graduate of Pittsburg High School in Pittsburg, Kansas and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Applications from Pittsburg State University. John was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force in the Strategic Air Command providing maintenance on B-47 bombers. In the 1960’ s, he worked for Boeing on the Redstone Arsenal with a team that built and stressed tested the booster stage for the Saturn V rocket during the NASA Apollo program. John retired from United Parcel Service as a District Maintenance Manager. He enjoyed working in his shop fabricating and working on mechanical projects. John also enjoyed fishing, mowing, and tending to his property.
John was a devoted Christian and a member of Ascension Lutheran Church since 1970. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Frances Boggs. He is survived by his sons Steve (Laurie) Boggs and Mark Boggs; grandchildren Patrick Boggs of Sandy, Oregon and Jordan Heltsley of Bowling Green, Kentucky; great-grandson Jack Heltsley; sisters Janice Klein of Hutchinson, Kansas and Marilyn Toomey of Topeka, Kansas. John also had a close relationship with his brother-in-law Jerry Waggener and Jerry’s wife Kim.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 12pm-2pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. The service will begin at 2pm in the chapel followed by a burial at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
