Roberta and Family,
I am so sorry to hear about John´s passing, He seemed to be doing so well the last time we got together that he talked about golf and doing his regular activities which were many. He was truly a good man who unselfishly gave his time to drive senior citizens to their doctor´s appointments, along with serving as a financial officer for his church after serving years on the Edwardsville Council. He found time to coach youth sports and raise funds for worthy projects. John served as the treasurer for our Edwardsvillle All-Class Reunions and was as scrupulously honest a person as I have ever known. His attention to details made Adrian Monk look weak. He knew and accounted for every penny that came in and went out and produced reports even though he didn´t have to. He did the same as treasurer for his Kingston Class Reunion Committee. It is obvious that John had a very strong sense of family, of community, of church service, and of "giving" to others. Jean´s and my relationship go way back with John and Roberta, from elementary school through over 70 years. The years were pure gold. No words can truly describe this type of friendship. Rest in well-deserved peace, John.

Very saddened to hear about the loss of your Dad. When I would come and visit and we would play the Potentate your parents were always so welcoming and kind. There was nothing phony about your Dad. Straight off he had the ability to make a person feel welcome and comfortable. He was the real deal.

We have been fortunate to be John´s neighbor for the last forty years. He and Bert were so kind and welcoming when we first moved in and have remained that way always. John was generous and helpful and we looked to him for guidance which he gladly supplied. He was the undisputed patriarch of the Elm Street community and we will miss him. One of his last acts was to have his beloved but ailing tree in his front yard cut down and replaced by a weeping tree. We will miss him and weep for his passing, but that tree will be a reminder of the impact he had on our lives.
Our hearts go out to Bert and the whole family.
