John Bosak Obituary

John Lawrence "Larry" Bosak, 89, of Delancey, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born on May 2, 1936, at home in Adrian. He was the son of the late Steven William Bosak and Catherine (Kolson) Bosak.
Larry was a 1954 graduate of St. Adrian High School. He was a lifetime member of the former St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church, and currently Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church. Larry was a member of the church choir; he had an incredible voice and sang beautifully for many weddings and funerals.
Following graduation, Mr. Bosak served in the United States Navy from 1954 until 1958. He enjoyed his time in the service and had the opportunity to see parts of the world he otherwise would not have been able to experience.
On Sept. 12, 1959, he married Mamie LaRue Jarbeck. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage and raised six children together prior to her death on Oct. 17, 2011.
He worked at Airco Speer Carbon for 25 years and later worked as a machinist for Miller Welding until his retirement in 2001. He was a dedicated machinist, known for his precision and patience with even the most tedious and demanding projects. A true workaholic, he found pride and purpose in keeping his hands busy and his mind sharp.
In his free time, he enjoyed singing in the choir, hunting and spending time with his family. Though he had a tough exterior, those who knew him well saw the softer side that came out around babies and animals. He will be greatly missed by his beloved cat, Lucy, and the many stray animals he quietly looked after. With a heart as steady as his hands, he never sought recognition, although he appreciated having the quiet satisfaction of a job well done and a creature well cared for.
He is survived by six children, Jean (Michael Szumega) Bosak of Floral Park, New York, Carol Dinsmore of Punxsutawney, Gerald L. Bosak of Delancey, Jacqualine Bosak of Punxsutawney, Stephen (Krista) Bosak of Greensburg, and Thomas Bosak of Punxsutawney; six grandchildren, Megan (Jordan Jesse) Dinsmore, Keri (Nicholaus Tlumac) Dinsmore, Laura Bosak, Linsey Bosak, Nathan Bosak and Hali Ball; two brothers, Robert Bosak of Punxsutawney and Paul D. (Anna) Bosak of Virginia; son in-law Ray Dinsmore of Punxsutawney; and two sisters-in-law, Joann Bosak of Ohio and Helen Drayer of Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Mamie; infant daughter Shari Lee Bosak; and one brother, Steven W. Bosak, Jr.
A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.
Interment will follow at Adrian-Anita Roman Catholic Cemetery.
