John Breer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson Funeral Home - EFFINGHAM on Mar. 17, 2026.
John Andrew Breer, 16, of Effingham, IL, passed away into the arms of the Lord on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Born on February 26, 2010, John was a young man of remarkable kindness and generosity who found God's presence in the beauty of the outdoors. An avid sportsman and adventurer, John loved hunting, fishing, hiking, and climbing. Whether he was on his four-wheeler or a trail, his spirit was as vast as the wilderness he explored. Above all, he was a devoted son and brother who put his family first. John was a sophomore at Teutopolis High School. It was a profound blessing for all who knew him to have John in their lives.

John is survived by his parents, Neil and Carmen Breer; siblings, Cole, Lily, and Shane; grandparents, Donna Breer and Andrew and Connie Kerner; aunts and uncles, James and Jeanna Kerner and family, Joseph and Jessica Kerner and family, and Scott and Katie Breer.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Breer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Teutopolis. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family in care of Neil Breer. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him.
