John Brenner Obituary
John Thomas "Tom" Brenner
November 13, 1952 - December 11, 2024
Lexington, Kentucky - It is with heavy hearts, but a spirit full of cherished memories, we announce the passing of John Thomas "Tom" Brenner. Born on November 13, 1952, in Salem, Ohio, Tom passed away peacefully at home on December 11, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky at the age of 72 with his wife Kathy and his daughter Jessica by his side. Tom was a dedicated family man, an avid gardener, and an Ohio State Buckeyes enthusiast. His caring nature and fun-loving personality touched the lives of many.
Tom was lovingly known for his easy-going personality, readiness to lend a helping hand, and his touch of perfectionism, a trait that served him well throughout life, from his educational endeavors to his career and hobbies. He was a proud alumnus of Ohio State University, where he obtained his Bachelor's degree and fostered a lifelong passion for the Buckeyes-something he shared with his siblings.
Tom retired as a respected Wholesale Sales Manager from S & S Tire, where his professionalism, charm and "work hard, play hard" philosophy left a lasting impact. But his work didn't solely define him; Tom embraced life with a vibrant love for the outdoors. Gardening and tending flowers brought him immense joy, as did cooking meals for his family and friends. Known to be an incredible cook, his skills with grilling and smoking were unmatched, and many will remember the warmth and love he infused into every meal he prepared. In 2002, Tom married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Cook Brenner, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter.
Left to cherish Tom's memory is his beloved wife, Kathy Cook Brenner; daughter, Jessica Birardi (Vincent); granddaughter, Sadie Birardi; sisters, Linda Fette (Jim), and Carol Brenner; and his brother, Lew Brenner (Diana). He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Brenner; and his sister, Anita Brenner.
Tom would want everyone to remember these words from Ohio State Legend Woody Hayes: "You'll find that nothing that comes easy is worth a dime. There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you." Tom felt deeply with his heart, and his loving kindness will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A private memorial service honoring Tom will be held in Spring, 2025 at the Lexington Cemetery Scattering Garden. Memorial donations may be made in Tom's honor to God's Pantry, Bluegrass Care Navigators, or the Woodford Humane Society. Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street, Lexington, Kentucky, 40507, is in care of arrangements for John Thomas "Tom" Brenner.
